Prayer Requests and Update
We will be leaving our home here in Mexico on September 26th around 3am. We will take about 5 days to drive to the border of Arizona where we will meet my parents in their motor home. Then we will drive over to California for our family reunion (another 2 days driving). We will stay there 2 days and then take yet another 2 days to drive back to Idaho. If we are still all alive by then we will get to see the rest of our family and friends. We will stay a few days with my sister and her family while we get moved in to our new apartment.
-Please be praying for this whole process and especially for Fiona. She will be turning 9 months just as we arrive to Idaho. I really am hoping and praying that she won’t be miserable with so much driving. But we have purposely given ourselves extra time in case she needs a break.
-Also pray that we will not have any car troubles. Elias is actually gone making repairs on the car right now.
-We will probably get stopped by the police and/or military several times during our trip in Mexico so please pray that they will not hassle us or demand money from us.
-We also need prayer that we will be able to find affordable hotels to stay at…we are driving along the coast so there should be plenty of places to stay we just need to find the decent inexpensive places.
-For our overall safety while driving on the bad roads etc.
Thank you for all of your prayers. We are so excited for this new change but also a little nervous and anxious. We appreciate knowing that we have people praying for us.
Meanwhile…I am still working on packing the few things we will take with us and figuring out what to do with the rest of our stuff. We will be selling some of it and giving some of it away. My only friend here that speaks English just found out she is pregnant so I will be handing down a lot of Fiona’s things to her. I am really glad that we can be such a blessing to them in that way. People so greatly blessed us by helping us financially when Fiona was born and I am so glad that those blessings are continuing on to others. What perfect timing God has.
The rains have finally come here. They usually start at the beginning of the summer so people were beginning to get pretty worried but God is faithful and it has been raining for 3 days now with just short breaks in the day. That means Fiona and I are pretty much hermits for the time being. But that’s okay because we have lots to get done at home. I’m also doing some more baking now that it isn’t so hot.
Fiona is doing very well. She smacks her lips together now and tries to give kisses and just the last couple days has started waving hello and goodbye… actually she responds better to Hola and Adios! She even started waving today when my mom was talking to her on the phone. She’s still not got the hang of crawling but is getting closer every day. She thinks she can walk though and already tries to get down out of our laps when we’re sitting. It’s pretty funny because once she’s standing she can’t actually go anywhere on her own but she wants us to walk her around. She has so much personality and makes us laugh all the time. We can’t even imagine what she’s going to be like once she starts talking! Her appetite for solid foods is also growing. One of her new favorites is avocado. She also loves water. To drink and to play with. She still won’t drink out of a bottle though. Only our cups. Yet another sign she thinks she’s older than she is. She absolutely loves to take a bath and tries to drink the water the entire time. I usually end up totally soaked down the front of my shirt by the time she’s clean because she splashes so much. Fiona is such a joy to us and we are always saying how we can’t believe God blessed us with such a beautiful little girl.
Elias is also doing well. He is struggling with a lot of back and neck pain though. Please pray for him to be healed of that and that it won’t bother him on our trip. He is working very hard and long hours. He is training one of his brothers to replace him at work, finishing putting in a wood plank pine ceiling in the new office they just built adjacent to the old one, and after work hours is making repairs to our car with his friend who is a mechanic. For our trip it needs repairs on the transmission, new brakes, new shocks, one of the door locks has to be fixed, new windshield wipers, possibly new tires, a new sensor so that it won’t burn so much gas and who knows what else. So he has his work cut out for him.
Well, that’s about it for now. Thank you again for all of your continued prayers. May you keep your eyes focused on our loving Savior and be blessed abundantly by our amazing merciful God.
Elias, Katie and Fiona
